Site Preparation and Excavation

  • Mark the tank location and excavate the pit according to the tank dimensions, leaving at least 300 mm working clearance on all sides.
  • Keep the pit dry and protected from surface water during excavation and installation.
  • Where soil is poor or clayey, provide a PCC leveling course as recommended by the site engineer.

Base Preparation

  • Provide a minimum 100 mm thick layer of well‑compacted sand or crusher dust as the bed.
  • Level and compact this layer properly to form a uniform, firm base for full tank support.
  • Check levels before lowering the tank to maintain correct inlet/outlet gradients.

Tank Placement

  • Ensure adequate access (typically 3 m or more) for cranes or lifting equipment.
  • Unload the tank using suitable lifting hooks, slings, and lower it slowly into the pit.
  • Align the tank and connect inlet, outlet, and vent pipes using appropriate fittings.

Backfilling and Surface Works

  • Backfill in layers using selected soil, sand, or crusher dust, compacting evenly on all sides.
  • Protect the top slab from impact loads until backfilling is complete and area is stabilized.
  • Complete final surface treatments ensuring access covers and manholes remain serviceable.
